24’’ x 36’’ acrylic on 1.5’’ deep canvas.
I created this piece to celebrate local farmers and farmer’s markets. Local farms, like Heavenly Roots Farm on Salt Spring Island, benefit us all as they provide nutritional food, help preserve local green-space/farmland, cut down on the environmental impacts of food transportation, and provide a sense of community as everyone stays and shops local. In historical context, I painted this piece during COVID-19 when food chains were disrupted and some items became scarce and expensive. This piece is part of a series as I wish to continue to celebrate nature in my art in an effort to bring awareness to environmental conservation.
