This is part of my Ocean Awareness Series as I was struck by the volume of plastic appearing on our West Coast Beaches. I noticed this in particular when I visited the Pacific Rim National Park, the ancestral territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth people, for the first time in years and sadly noticed that even a handful of sand on the beach there contains many pieces of large and micro plastic. Upon returning to home, I participated in a beach clean up event and produced this piece of art that I wish to display to bring awareness to what we are doing to Mother Earth.
