A Beach Walk

This is a piece made 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet for a contest at Surrey Central Mall. The theme was "Christmas Traditions." I called my piece "A Beach Walk“ as a walk by the ocean is one activity my family can all agree on:) I recreated the White Rock Train Station, a Heritage Building, in gingerbread along with the BNSF train that goes along the beach. This piece won first prize in the adult open category. It then won Peoples Choice as well and I made a total of $1750. It was made in memory of my nephew Dylan who passed away four month earlier and the prize money will be donated in his name. Options, specifically Hyland House, a shelter for homeless men, has received the prize money and is currently building a gazebo at the shelter for the men. The used to have a tent and it blew away… A plaque was installed in memory of Dylan. October 30/22 The gazebo is now being used as a safe inhalation site and will hopefully save a few lives :) Dylan’s plaque is overhead I like to think watching over them.
